Frequently Asked Questions

Know before you go.

Practical answers for those preparing to serve with Fervor Missions.

Can someone like me go on a Fervor mission trip?

Fervor Missions welcomes Christians who desire to take part in the Great Commission, are committed to Scripture, connected to a local church, and willing to serve as part of a team. Applicants may be at different stages of their walk with Christ, from newer believers to experienced ministry leaders. Our desire is to give people God is calling an opportunity to serve regardless of gender, age, race, or social status.

Are there any restrictions or requirements?

The minimum age is 8, with no upper age limit. Anyone under 18 must travel with a parent or legal guardian. Applicants are expected to complete the required application, provide a recommendation from a pastor or trusted spiritual leader, and agree with Fervor Global Ministries’ statement of faith and standards of conduct. Participants need a valid passport that remains valid for at least six months after the trip return date, and some destinations may also require an entry visa. Additional trip-specific requirements may apply.

How long is a mission trip?

Most Fervor mission trips are expected to be approximately 10 days. Some destinations or outreach formats may be shorter, such as a 7-day trip, depending on the location and ministry schedule.

How much does a trip cost, and what is the cancellation policy?

A typical mission trip may cost about $2,099 for the in-country portion, which can include lodging, meals, ground transportation, translator services, and itinerary planning. The final amount can vary by destination and trip length. International airfare, in-country domestic flights when needed, visa fees, travel or medical insurance, and personal spending are generally separate. Fervor Missions will provide the applicable cancellation and refund terms before trip payments are finalized.

Can I fundraise for my trip?

Yes. Fervor Missions may provide participants with fundraising guidance, sample support-letter language, and other resources that can be personalized and shared with family, friends, churches, and supporters. Any online fundraising options or participant fundraising pages will be explained to approved applicants as they become available.

Do you offer medical, travel, or trip insurance?

Fervor Missions strongly recommends comprehensive travel insurance that can include trip cancellation, lost luggage, emergency evacuation, and medical expenses. Travelers may choose the provider and coverage that best fit their needs. Travel medical insurance can be especially important for overseas illness or injury, emergency evacuation, and other unexpected medical situations.

What will I do during the trip?

Team members may serve through preaching, Bible teaching, music, drama, children or youth ministry, intercessory prayer, counseling, testimony sharing, one-on-one ministry, prayer, Bible distribution, community outreach, and other forms of service. Participants are encouraged to tell Fervor Missions about their gifts and ministry experience so those strengths can be used when possible. Schedules may include churches, community gatherings, homes, hospitals, orphanages, refugee communities, or other ministry settings depending on the destination.

How should I prepare, and is mission training required?

Preparation begins with prayer and asking God how your life experiences, gifts, and testimony can serve others. Team members should consider which parts of their story may help introduce someone to Jesus and remain open to the divine appointments God may provide. Unless Fervor Missions communicates otherwise for a specific trip, there is no separate formal mission-training program that must be completed beforehand.

Who will my fellow team members be?

Fervor mission teams may include Christians from different backgrounds, ages, professions, churches, and stages of spiritual growth. What unites the team is a shared love for Jesus, commitment to His Word, and desire to fulfill the Great Commission. Applicants are expected to agree with Fervor Global Ministries’ statement of faith and standards of conduct and may be asked for a recommendation from a trusted Christian spiritual leader. The goal is to create a safe, encouraging, Christ-centered team environment where meaningful relationships can grow through serving together.

Where will we stay, and will I have a roommate?

Teams will generally stay in hotels, condos, or comparable lodging. In most cases, participants will share a room with another team member of the same gender unless family circumstances require another arrangement. When available, a private room may be requested for an additional cost.

What about food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Fervor Missions may not be able to accommodate every food allergy or special dietary requirement in international locations. Participants with allergies or dietary restrictions should plan carefully, communicate their needs before travel, and be prepared to make appropriate arrangements for themselves when necessary.

Are there physical mobility requirements?

Mission travel can require substantial walking and getting in and out of vans or buses. As a general guideline, participants should be able to walk at least one mile, use a flight of stairs, and make larger steps into transportation without assistance. Additional requirements may apply depending on the destination and itinerary.

How can someone give toward my trip, and is the gift tax deductible?

Supporters will be able to direct gifts toward approved Fervor mission participants through the giving process established for each trip. Because the website’s online giving system is still being finalized, Fervor Missions will provide the correct contribution instructions directly to approved team members and their supporters. Tax-deductibility depends on how the contribution is made and applicable nonprofit rules, so contributors should rely on the receipt and guidance provided by Fervor Global Ministries.

How do I make a payment for my trip?

Trip payment instructions will be provided to approved participants. The Fervor website includes a Trip Payment page, but online payment processing is still being finalized. Please follow the payment instructions supplied by Fervor Missions before sending funds or making travel purchases.

Do I book my own flight, or does Fervor Missions book it?

Participants will generally be responsible for booking their own international airfare. Fervor Missions can provide guidance and may help coordinate itineraries with other team members when possible. Travelers should wait for the approved flight-booking instructions before purchasing airfare.

Does the whole team meet and fly overseas together?

Not necessarily. Team members may depart from their own home airports and travel individually. When schedules and routes make it possible, Fervor Missions may help coordinate portions of the itinerary so some team members can travel together.

How will I know what to pack, how to dress, airport pickup details, lodging information, and other trip logistics?

Approximately six weeks before departure, Fervor Missions plans to provide team members with detailed trip information by email, including packing guidance, dress expectations, transportation and airport pickup details, lodging information, important contacts, and other destination-specific instructions.
